Residential Doors
Looking for a garage door for your new home or to replace an existing one? Garage Door Services has the right products for your needs. There are pros and cons to whichever material you choose for your new door, depending on your budget, design, and personal preferences. Take a look at the options we provide:
Steel Garage Doors
Steel garage doors are gaining in popularity due to these great advantages:
- Less expensive than comparable wooden doors
- Virtually maintenance-free – they resist rust, don’t require repainting, don’t warp, and are much more weather-resistant than wood
- Longer lasting and carry longer warranties
- Built in finger protections systems (great for when there are small children around)
- Improved security – steel doors are nearly impossible to pry open
- Can provide greater insulation than wooden doors – keep your garage (or entryway to your home) warmer in winter, cooler in summer, and quieter year-round
The only downsides to steel doors:
- While there are a number of quality simulated textures, they can’t compete with real wood for that natural look
- Steel doors come in a wide range of widths and heights to fit most standard openings, but some custom-built homes require more versatility in sizing
Wooden Garage Doors
Advantages of wood doors:
- Doors can be custom-built to virtually any design
- Doors can be designed to look as if the swing, fold, or slide open
- The look and feel of natural wood brings a special warmth and beauty to your home, especially when finished with a stain to enhance the grain and texture
- A number of varieties of wood are available such as red and white cedar, which lend themselves well to Michigan weather
- Helps to create a true cottage, rustic, or traditional look to the entry of your home
Some downsides to wood doors:
- More expensive option
- Requires periodic maintenance to repaint/stain in order to maintain weather-resistant properties (about as often as you’d repaint the exterior of your home)
Metal Carriage Doors
We are pleased to present a new option that is the best of both worlds: The American Traditions Series from Haas Door Company.
These doors feature the elegant look of classic 18th and 19th century carriage house doors that swung open sideways but are actually steel sectional doors that easily roll up and out of the way.
- Low-maintenance steel
- Elegant wood-grain finish
- More affordable than traditional wood carriage doors
- Customizable finishes to suit your needs
