Measuring Your Garage Door

To repair or install a garage door or opener, we need to know a few things from you.

For repairs, we will need to know the width (1) and height (2) of your door.

For new operators, we need the height (2), headroom (3), and backroom (5).

For new doors, we will also need the left and right (4) side measurements.

Please also tell us if there are any obstructions in these areas. Obstructions include entry doors, pipes, support beams, heating ducts, lighting, etc that may interfere with the tracks or operation of the garage door or opener.

Building a new garage? Please be aware of some minimum requirements for door and operator installations:

Headroom:
Standard lift doors require a minimum of 12″ over door height
Not enough headroom? Don’t worry –
Low Headroom Front Mount Springs reduce the height requirement to 8 1/4″
Low Headroom Rear Mount Springs require as little as 6″

Side Room: All doors require a minimum of 3″

Backroom:
Standard lift – door height + 26″
Low Headroom Front Mount Springs – door height + 20″
Low Headroom Rear Mount Spring – door height + 29″

These requirements are for the door only, operators may require additional backroom.
